About

Shaping the Future of Knowledge Brokering is a forum for knowledge brokers across the education system to connect, share, and learn. It’s a space to build connections, develop professional identities, welcome new voices, and energize our community. Over three days, we’ll share tools and resources, tackle pressing challenges, and spark new ideas. We welcome emerging and experienced knowledge brokers to join us for this highly interactive and collaborative experience.

This year’s themes include:

  • Foundations and Futures of Knowledge Brokering: What is the current state of the field, and how do knowledge brokers navigate challenging times together?
  • Equity in Action – Power, Practice, and Possibility: How do knowledge brokers facilitate collaborative agendas, promote inclusion, and create spaces for power-sharing?
  • Designing Together – Tools for Shared Learning: What resources, frameworks, and products emerge from co-design and/or support the work of knowledge brokers?

Audience

Knowledge brokers occupy diverse roles and positions across the field of education. While all forum attendees can attend any sessions of interest, your application will include the opportunity to suggest which audiences might benefit most from your presentation.

Event Types

We welcome proposals from presenters across the education system. To support our goals of building community and connection, our program offerings encourage interaction and collaboration.

Knowledge Cafe

Share, engage, collaborate.

Knowledge cafes are a flexible format that combine a short presentation with facilitated discussion or activities. These 60-minute sessions should align with one of the three conference themes and should limit direct presentation time to no more than 30 minutes. The remaining time should be guided by discussion prompts or activities that engage participants in conversation, deeper learning, or problem-solving.

We invite submissions from individuals or teams on relevant education knowledge brokering topics such as:

  • Ways to address problems of practice for education knowledge brokers
  • Working papers or research on the theory and practice of knowledge brokering
  • Knowledge brokering strategies for diverse contexts and constituencies
  • A knowledge brokering strategy or method in action
  • Building relationships in knowledge brokering to facilitate collaboration, capacity-building, and equitable participation
  • Co-design approaches used as research is being planned, in data collection, and/or analysis
  • Other topics of importance to the education knowledge brokering community

Knowledge Fair

Highlight practical tools & strategies.

Present a practical tool or framework you’ve developed, implemented, or adapted for the purposes of knowledge brokering. You’ll prepare a short visual summary (such as a poster, slide deck, or 3–5 minute video) to deliver a presentation of no more than 10 minutes within a 60 minute session. Presentations will be grouped by theme and delivered alongside others in breakout rooms for small groups.

We invite submissions from individuals or teams who want to spotlight:

  • A tool or framework that you’ve developed or refined that supports the work of knowledge brokers and/or supports equity in knowledge brokering and outcomes
  • Education products or materials that resulted from research being made useful or usable in support of equity (open-access or co-designed products preferred)
  • Examples can be either digital or analog (or some combination of the two)
