Apply to Join EKBN's Board of Directors
The Education Knowledge Broker Network (EKBN) is seeking new members to join its Board of Directors for a two-year term beginning January 1, 2026. Candidates from across the education system – including schools, universities, nonprofits, research institutes, foundations, state and local education agencies, policy organizations, and community-based organizations – are encouraged to apply. We especially welcome applicants from under-represented backgrounds and those whose work spans boundaries between research, practice, and policy.
Given the current composition of the Board, the Selection Committee is particularly interested in candidates with experience in:
- Fundraising and nonprofit development
- Strategic communications and marketing
- Policy and advocacy
- Network leadership and community building
- Finance or nonprofit governance
- Education across K-12, higher ed, or community settings
The committee is committed to building a board that reflects diverse geographic regions, lived experiences, and institutional perspectives.

What is the time commitment?
The EKBN Board of Directors is a working board. Members attend monthly virtual meetings (1.5 hours each) and participate actively in at least one committee. The average total time commitment is approximately 3-5 hours per month. Board members are expected to contribute their expertise, help guide EKBN’s strategic direction, and champion the network in their communities. Please note this is an uncompensated volunteer position.
